Stupid is forever: Dreams to live for

This morning  while waiting for my laundry to be finish,I read Miriam Defensor Santiago’s Book; Stupid is forever. Presumably I thought that the said  book was just merely  epigrammatic collection of jokes but to my surprise it isn’t at all.This book is more than that.

It is a book that inhibits not just  a revolution tied with beautiful sarcasm but also it circulates in the premise of sense of humor and with native intelligence.

I am not writing this post to summarize the book but to pin-point the epigrams and life- lessons that Senator Miriam Santiago  noted and highlighted in her book.

 Lessons of life:

Nothing matters more to the future of this nation than to ensure that our young women and men  learn to believe in themselves and to believe in their dreams. Life teaches us that, whether we perceive it as a predestined or random,it is beyond any person’s control. The meaning of life is what you choose to make it mean. (and to add, the meaning of life is in our faith,on what we choose to believe).

A meaningful life – Three ways to make your life meaningful

Get connected

It is not about having a busiest social life or having a lot of random friends. Real joy is having deeper relationships with family  and friends. A relationship that will help you grow and stronger as well as the others. This will truly add meaning to your life

Do not shy away from stress

Get out of your comfort zone, do  that thing that you are  always afraid of, do something for the first time.Remember taking the easy road is not always the better option. The biggest challenges in life often lead tot he biggest gains in the long run.

Find a sense of purpose:

People who spend more time pursuing activities that reflected their sense of self were the people who found their lives more meaningful. INVEST your life into something that express hope,faith and above all love! Because the idealism of us, young people serves as a priceless assets in our generation which will move a cosmic mile of change to the next generation after us.And lastly MAY in all things that you do,make sure you do it to GLORIFY GOD not to bring glory to your pride that is hardwired with self adulation.

I live for those who love me,
Whose hearts are kind and true,
For heaven that smiles above me,
And waits my spirit, too;
For all the ties that bind me,
For all the tasks assigned me.
And bright hopes left behind me,
And good that I can do.

I live to learn their story
Who’ve suffered for my sake,
To emulate their glory,
And follow in their wake;
Bards, patriots, martyrs, sages,
The noble of all ages,
Whose deeds crown history’s pages,
And Time’s great volume make.

I live to hold communion
With all that is divine,
To feel there is a union
‘Twixt Nature’s heart and mine;
To profit by affliction,
Reap truths from fields of fiction,
And, wiser from conviction,
Fulfil each grand design.

I live to hail that season,
By gifted minds foretold,
When men shall rule by reason,
And not alone by gold;
When man to man united,
And every wrong thing righted,
The whole world shall be lighted
As Eden was of old.

I live for those who love me,
Whose hearts are kind and true,
For heaven that smiles above me,
And waits my spirit too;
For the cause that lacks assistance,
For the wrong that needs resistance,
For the future in the distance,
And the good that I can do.
